Dr. Lee & Accesa Recommendation

For more than five years, I suffered from multiple fibroids. They were causing pressure, very heavy bleeding, and affecting my bladder control. They were so big that my uterus was the size of a 14-16 week pregnancy. I was having VERY heavy periods that lasted 7-8 days with four days super heavy days where I had to use super plus sized tampons backed up by large pads. An MRI showed at least eleven fibroids. I knew I had to take action to remove them, so I made an appointment with my obgyn at the UCLA’s fibroid center to get a

Acessa before the stay at home orders

I underwent the Acessa procedure and a month recovery right before we went into stay at home orders. The silver lining is, owning a pilates and movement studio that is closed, I have been able to continue to get strong and focus on my own physical recovery more than I may have done before. I cannot imagine having to wait for my surgery and hope women keep their bodies moving right now in preparation for their surgeries. My experience having the Acessa procedure with Dr. Lee was one that was so supportive in treating 6 fibroids and my case of

Why Uterine Fibroids Are the Most Commonly Overlooked Tumors in Women

Dr Lee Featured in Goop In a recent appointment, gynecologist Bruce Lee, MD, saw a woman who looked eight months pregnant. She wasn’t. But the benign tumors in her uterus had grown so large that it looked as if she might be. She was seeing Lee that day to get those tumors, called uterine fibroids, treated for the first time. The reason this patient had waited so long to get help, says Lee, is because the standard treatment for fibroids is a hysterectomy: a full removal of the uterus from the body. The patient didn’t want a hysterectomy, so she

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Dr. Bruce Lee

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Dr. Bruce Lee for developing Acessa. Four years ago I had a fibroid greater than 9cm in size and it was making my life miserable. I experienced prolonged and excessive bleeding every time I had my period, anemia (as a result of the out of control bleeding), constipation and diarrhea (due to the pressure the fibroid was putting on my intestinal tract), and a constant urge to pee (because my bladder was being squeezed & smashed). In short, I was one miserable person. My doctor told me I needed a hysterectomy, but

The Latest Acessa ProVu Technology

Roxbury Surgery Center team completes one of 1st Acessa ProVu procedures Bruce Lee, MD, and his team at the Beverly Hills, California based Roxbury Surgery Center completed one of the first Acessa ProVu procedures for fibroids. Here are three insights: 1. Dr. Lee invented the Acessa procedure in 1999 after three patients asked him for an alternative treatment solution. 2. ProVu is the third generation of the technology, developed after nearly 3,000 procedures with the first generations. 3. The treatment uses radiofrequency ablation to provide an alternative to hysterectomy and myomectomy. To learn more about ProVu and Dr. Bruce Lee,

Acessa Vs. Alternative Fibroid Treatments

What has been your involvement in the development of the Acessa procedure? How many Acessa procedures have you performed? How long have you been performing Acessa? I first performed radiofrequency ablation of fibroids (Acessa procedure) in 1999 when I became the first surgeon to successfully treat a series of highly symptomatic fibroid patients with this technology. At that time I used existing instrumentation that was designed to treat liver cancer and modified the procedure and the surgical technique to allow fibroids to be effectively treated. Since then, I have established what is now the methodology for performing and teaching Acessa.

Hysterectomy Alternative: Acessa

It has long been held that many hysterectomies are performed “unnecessarily” in that other alternatives that are less radical, costly, and risky, may have been appropriate. The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology has publicly stated that the number of hysterectomies for benign conditions is too high and should be reduced. Many patients desire a hysterectomy, do well, and are happy with their choice. Others may not be aware of alternatives and the pros and cons hysterectomy. Still others regret having had to have major surgery and have their uterus removed for a benign condition such as fibroids. Along those

New Fibroid Treatment – One Year after Acessa Procedure Treats 32 Fibroids

The Acessa Procedure is a new, FDA cleared, outpatient, minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure that treats uterine fibroids safely and effectively without a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus). See Dellita report her experience one year after Acessa, and why she is now publicly revealing her devastating symptoms and how uterine fibroid tumors controlled her life. Before treatment, Dellita looked 6-months pregnant, had severe anemia, and suffered depression. She underwent outpatient treatment of 32 fibroid tumors with Acessa one year ago. She recovered rapidly and resumed most normal activities in 4-5 days. Within a few months, Dellita had her life back. Six
